The Treasure Coast can be found on Florida's east coast north of West Palm Beach. Stuart, Hutchinson Island, Jensen Beach, Port St Lucie, Fort Pierce, Vero Beach and Sebastian are all cities on the Treasure Coast. Our emerald beaches and thousands of acres of natural lands transport you to old Florida with all its charm and beauty. Check out our Save Rate Hotels on the Treasure Coast!
Fort Pierce is located in St Lucie County. There are several miles of uncrowded and unspoiled emerald beaches. A portion of these beaches once served as training grounds for the Scouts & Raiders and the Underwater Demolition Teams now known simply as the elite Navy SEALs.
Today, you can visit the National Navy UDT-SEAL Museum located on North Hutchinson Island to learn more about Fort Pierce's involvement in World War II.
If you are a diver, you may wish to check out the Urca De Lima, one of the many Spanish ships that sunk during the 1715 hurricane (Yes! That is why we are called the Treasure Coast.). The Urca De Lima was not a 'treasure ship', but part of merchant envoy. This site is Florida's first Underwater Archaeological Preserve. To learn more about the Urca De Lima, visit the St Lucie County Historical Museum where you can see the anchor and other salvaged pieces.
Activities in the Downtown Fort Pierce area include Friday Fest on the first Friday of the month and Bike Night every Thursday night.
